Emotion icons: :) for a smiley face, :( for a sad face, <3 for a heart ... every icon you use helps you to convey meaning. I’m studying English Literature, so writing properly is very important to me and I get cross when I make obvious mistakes. When I send a text message, I write in standard English – I never use short forms ‘R U OK’ or ‘I LV U’ to ask if someone is OK or to tell them you love them. Yet the whole point of texting is to be able to send a message and receive a reply as fast as possible, so why is it that I spend extra precious seconds searching through the emoticons for the right one to express how I feel?
I actually think that sometimes emoticons are really useful to depict how you feel and to clarify messages which may be misinterpreted. Here’s an example:
- ‘Stop annoying me!’ :-(
- ‘Stop annoying me!’ ;-)
- ‘Stop annoying me!’ :@ (Angry face)
To me, the sad face shows that I am feeling sad about something and that the person I am talking to isn’t making me feel any better. The winky face says that I don’t mind the person being annoying and I am just teasing them, while the angry face tells them that I am not in a good mood and don’t want to be annoyed by someone at that moment.
An added bonus is that the emoticons often speak for themselves and sometimes do not need text to interpret them, which is brilliant when I’m texting in Spanish and unable to think of the right words to say. I’m also acutely aware that as a foreigner I do not yet have the subtleties needed to be able to speak the intricacies of a language and that sometimes it is possible to be too blunt and direct! Emoticons help to convey the extra subtlety that I miss in text.

EliminarYes i use emoticons. the emoticons that i frequently useare funny emoticons because i chatting all days in a whatsapp group with my friends and when i use snapchat, also i use emoticons when i want to express my feelings. i think that is a way to relaxing. I think that is a good invent because you can express many words in a emoticon.

It is better the emoticón lince one is expressed similarly as the words but faster and easy.

I don't use emoticons so frecuently i prefer send voice notes to avoid being misunderstood, however the ones that i use the most are 😘,😚,💜, and 😋.

Finally, it is important to pay attention to the context, because emoticons are not for any moment. Using emoticons on a text depends on the person with you are talking about and the confidence you have to talk informal.

yes of course, I use emoticons all time when I write with other person. I like to use the happy emoticon, because is indispensable, also i use the thinker emoticon because makes the conversation more interesting. the emoticons are the best invention for the text, Because you make yourself understand better, I use emoticons when I writes on whatsapp to my friends.

ResponderEliminarYes, I use emoticons frequently, I mainly use the happy face 😊 when the message received pleases me, I use the sad face 😔 to express dissatisfaction with some expression or sadness And I use the wink face 😜 when I am joking on the message. I think that emoticons are a way of expressing differents emotions quickly. I use emoticons to talk with my family And Friends.

Yeah I use the emoticons, but no all the time. I only use when I send messages to my girlfriend, to my friends and to my fathers some times, so the emoticons that I use most are de hearts, the in love face, the laugh face. Yeah I think that they are a good invention because we can express us with them. I use when I think that is necessary to express more because a mean that it is so ugly.

Yeah, I always use emoticons un all cases , I send messages with a lot of emoticons , I use 🙈,🎊,💕,🤘 everytime because sometimes it express the way what i feel and if I don't send that I think that the message send in a bad way, and also I think that is an excellent invention because is a funny or an enjoy way to talk to another people

Yes, I do, and the emoticons I use more are 😭🔫😘😂😏. The sad icon with the gun, I used when I wanna die for some situation or when I don't urdestand the other person. The kiss I use to say love you or when a go to sleep and say "goodbye I love you" and the laughing face or pervert face I use to teasing with my friends. When I use these emoticons I think it was a great idea to create them because say emotions that you can't show, so that's why I like use de icons every time specially with my friends.

However no all the time I use emoticons only when I am chatting with my friends, my boyfriend ana familiars. So the emoticons that I use with more frequency are the faces and the monkeys with the hands because to me they are so cute��.

Yes, i do. I always use emojis because i feel that they can describe exactly what i want. The one i use the most it's the hugging face to say like something it's exciting or that something would be great. I think they were a good creation also the emojis seem to express everithing like if we were face to face. I used them especially when i'm chatting with my friends.
